For the best results, wear your aligners 20 to 22 hours a day. Take them out only to eat, drink anything other than water, and brush and floss. Wearing them less than recommended can slow your progress.
For many cases, including crowding, gaps, and many bite issues, clear aligners can work as well as braces. Very complex tooth movements may still be better treated with braces. Dr. Sepi will tell you honestly which option fits your teeth best.
Clear aligners do not usually hurt, but you may feel pressure or mild soreness for a day or two when you start a new set. That pressure means the aligners are working. The smooth plastic is more comfortable on cheeks and lips than metal brackets and wires.
Yes. Teeth naturally try to shift back after they are moved, so you will wear a retainer after treatment to keep your new smile in place. Most people wear it every night, long term.
