Low-radiation digital X-rays for faster, more accurate diagnosis
Digital dental X-rays use an electronic sensor instead of film to capture detailed images of your teeth, roots, and jawbone. The images appear on a screen within seconds and use far less radiation than traditional film X-rays. They help find problems an exam alone can miss, such as cavities between teeth, decay under old fillings, infections at the root tip, bone loss from gum disease, and impacted wisdom teeth.
At Sigma Dental Clinic on W Foster Ave in Chicago, Dr. Sepi Dashti uses digital X-rays together with intraoral cameras so you can see exactly what we see on the screen and understand your treatment options. Digital X-rays are part of new-patient visits, checkups, and emergency visits, and we offer same-day emergency appointments and welcome walk-ins. We accept Medicaid for kids and adults, Medicare Advantage PPO, and most PPO plans. Call (773) 506-2033 to book.
Our digital imaging system provides highly detailed and precise images of your teeth, gums, and jaw, allowing us to diagnose issues early and plan effective treatments.
With digital imaging, there’s no waiting for film to develop. Your images are available instantly, helping us make quick decisions and begin your treatment without delay.
Digital imaging emits significantly less radiation than traditional X-rays, ensuring a safer experience for our patients.
Since digital images are stored electronically, there’s no need for physical film, making the process more environmentally friendly and efficient.

I had a wonderful experience at Sigma Dental Clinic. Having not seen a dentist for many (many) years, I was nervous going in but everyone at Sigma is so kind and put me at ease. I needed four small fillings due to gum recession. Dr. Dashti is gentle and explains what she is going to do before she does it, and there's a TV on the ceiling to entertain you while you're having your procedure! Tyrone is personable and efficient, and the kind gentleman at the front desk is awesome. He obtained a prior authorization from my insurance so I knew what my out of pocket would be beforehand and everything was ready to go when I got there. My teeth look great! Thanks Sigma team! See you in six months. 😁Posted on Google![]()

The dentist is very gentle and nice and I have been recommending her around the area. The office manager on the other hand was yelling / arguing with me when I tried to make an appointment for a specific issue. He made us not want to return or recommend. I believe he had mistaken me for another patient and would not even try to understand his mistake when I tried to correct him. Having dental work is already stressful and when the office manager doesn't have clear communication and is using contradictory phrases it makes the experience so much worse and degrades trust.Posted on Google![]()

I had my wisdom teeth removed at Sigma Dental recently, and the entire experience was far better than I expected given how nervous I was about the procedure. I was naturally a bit anxious heading in, but the team made me feel completely comfortable from start to finish. The dentist (Dr Septic Dashti) explained every step of the process beforehand, answered all my questions, and made sure I didn't feel a thing during the procedure. Post-op instructions were clear and easy to follow, making recovery smooth and manageable. Highly recommend Sigma Dental for anyone nervous about dental procedures!Verified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust. Yes. Digital X-rays use an electronic sensor that needs much less radiation than traditional film X-rays. The dose from routine dental X-rays is very small, and we only take the images Dr. Sepi Dashti needs to diagnose and plan your care.
It depends on your age, dental history, and risk for cavities or gum disease. New patients usually get a full set to give us a baseline. After that, many adults with healthy teeth need bitewing X-rays every one to two years, while people with more dental problems may need them more often.
X-rays show what is hidden from view: cavities between teeth and under old fillings, infections or abscesses at the root tip, bone loss from gum disease, cracks, cysts, and impacted or developing teeth such as wisdom teeth. Finding these early usually means simpler and less costly treatment.
Please tell us if you are pregnant or think you might be. Dental X-rays use very low radiation and are considered safe during pregnancy when they are needed, for example to diagnose pain or an infection. We may postpone routine X-rays until after delivery.
Each image takes just a few seconds. A small sensor is placed in your mouth, and the picture appears on the screen almost immediately, so there is no waiting for film to develop and we can review the results with you right away.
Yes. Because the images are digital, we can share them electronically with a specialist, another dentist, or your insurance company with your permission. This can help avoid repeat X-rays and speed up referrals and insurance approvals.
