See what your dentist sees, on the screen, in real time
An intraoral camera is a small, pen-sized camera that takes close-up, high-resolution photos and video inside your mouth. The images appear instantly on a screen beside your chair, so you can see cracks, worn or broken fillings, cavities, plaque buildup, and gum problems for yourself instead of just hearing about them. It is painless, uses no radiation, and takes only a few seconds.
At Sigma Dental Clinic on W Foster Ave in Chicago, Dr. Sepi Dashti uses intraoral cameras together with digital X-rays during checkups and emergency visits to explain what is going on and why a treatment is recommended. The photos also help document your care for insurance. We accept Medicaid for kids and adults, Medicare Advantage PPO, and most PPO plans. Call (773) 506-2033 to book.
These cameras provide detailed, high-definition images that make it easier to spot problems like cavities, cracks, or gum disease—often before they become serious.
You can see the images in real-time, allowing for more interactive consultations in which you can understand exactly what’s happening in your mouth.
Seeing the images can help you and your dentist discuss treatment options more effectively, ensuring you’re fully informed about your care.
The intraoral camera is small and easy to use, making it a comfortable, noninvasive way to obtain detailed images of teeth and gums without any discomfort.

I had a wonderful experience at Sigma Dental Clinic. Having not seen a dentist for many (many) years, I was nervous going in but everyone at Sigma is so kind and put me at ease. I needed four small fillings due to gum recession. Dr. Dashti is gentle and explains what she is going to do before she does it, and there's a TV on the ceiling to entertain you while you're having your procedure! Tyrone is personable and efficient, and the kind gentleman at the front desk is awesome. He obtained a prior authorization from my insurance so I knew what my out of pocket would be beforehand and everything was ready to go when I got there. My teeth look great! Thanks Sigma team! See you in six months. 😁Posted on Google![]()

The dentist is very gentle and nice and I have been recommending her around the area. The office manager on the other hand was yelling / arguing with me when I tried to make an appointment for a specific issue. He made us not want to return or recommend. I believe he had mistaken me for another patient and would not even try to understand his mistake when I tried to correct him. Having dental work is already stressful and when the office manager doesn't have clear communication and is using contradictory phrases it makes the experience so much worse and degrades trust.Posted on Google![]()

I had my wisdom teeth removed at Sigma Dental recently, and the entire experience was far better than I expected given how nervous I was about the procedure. I was naturally a bit anxious heading in, but the team made me feel completely comfortable from start to finish. The dentist (Dr Septic Dashti) explained every step of the process beforehand, answered all my questions, and made sure I didn't feel a thing during the procedure. Post-op instructions were clear and easy to follow, making recovery smooth and manageable. Highly recommend Sigma Dental for anyone nervous about dental procedures!Verified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust. An intraoral camera is a small, pen-shaped digital camera with a built-in light. Your dentist moves it gently around your mouth to take sharp, magnified photos and video of your teeth and gums, which appear right away on a screen so you can see them too.
No. The camera is about the size of a toothbrush handle and only touches your teeth lightly, much like a dental mirror. There are no needles, no bulky trays, and nothing to bite on, and a full set of photos takes just a minute or two.
No. An intraoral camera takes regular color photos using light, so there is no radiation at all. It is safe for children, pregnant patients, and anyone who needs frequent pictures to track a problem over time.
It helps us spot cracked or chipped teeth, worn or leaking fillings, visible cavities, plaque and tartar buildup, inflamed or receding gums, and sores or other changes in the soft tissue of your mouth. Seeing these up close makes it easier to catch problems early.
An intraoral camera shows the surface of your teeth and gums in true color, while a digital X-ray shows what is hidden inside the tooth, under the gums, and in the jawbone. We often use both together to get a complete picture of your oral health.
Yes. The photos are saved in your digital record, and we are happy to share them with you. With your permission, we can also send them to your insurance company or to a specialist, which can help with treatment approvals and referrals.
